I have been practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2005. Most of my experience has been on college and university campuses. I've counseled college aged students as well as graduate students at Boston University, Purdue University, Bard College and Harvard Business School. I take an eclectic approach with patients and try to meet each patient's needs in a collaborative way. Feel free to contact me for an initial consultation.
I specialize in providing individual therapy to adults experiencing OCD and/or eating disorders. I can also provide support for other mental health issues, including: depression, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, phobias, trauma, mood disorders, and substance misuse. I also help clients navigate life's common problems, including relationship issues, work stress, identity development, and grief. I periodically offer support groups for OCD and eating disorders. I will be seeing clients in person in Pittsburgh starting in August 2023. I can see clients in Massachusetts via telehealth but I am not accepting any telehealth clients at this time.
I am a social worker focused primarily on helping those with a wide variety of mental health concerns. With a background in therapeutic communities, I believe it is essential to protect the dignity and humanity of a patient no matter the extent of their suffering. My work is guided by psychoanalysis and phenomenology, which allow me to collaboratively explore the meaning of one's difficulties with a patient in the context of their life to alleviate rather than manage symptoms. I pride myself on work with clients who are apprehensive about therapy, have stalled in therapy in the past, are skeptical of modern paradigms of mental health, have had unusual experiences or have unusual spiritual beliefs, have been called too smart for their own good or have otherwise been made to feel difficult.
I offer a warm approach in helping you through what is going on for you, including anxiety, depression, addictions/binge eating, and relationship issues. I use some elements of CBT, motivation interviewing, and can offer other approaches such as EMDR and Brainspotting.
Jennifer Rick LICSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Blossom Health, a completely virtual practice designed specifically for college and graduate students. Her areas of expertise include treatment of neurodevelopmental and co-occurring disorders, including Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and anxiety disorders. Jen enjoys working with students and young professionals who are struggling with executive functioning concerns, academic and social challenges, and perfectionism. Jen's therapeutic approach is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and she is also experienced in social skills training with young adults. She works with her patients collaboratively to develop treatment goals that are important to them. Patients feel supported and empowered to make changes in their lives. As a therapist, Jen describes herself as warm and non-judgmental, and she is committed to helping young adults navigate the unique challenges they are facing in this stage of their life. Prior to working at Blossom Health, Jennifer received specialized training in assessment and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. She has also worked with diverse populations in community mental health settings and school-based mental health programs. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania and her MSW from New York University.

I've been working with young adults for the better part of the last decade within the context of their homes, schools, communities and families. I have also been supervising young adults as well as older adults in juggling school work and family with their career ambitions. Fostering growth for these folks, including in many marginalized communities is, to me, an incredibly important part of building lives worth living, and growing the strength of our communities. As a white cis-gendered queer therapist I have done my own work on my identity that has allowed me to see and show up for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks, as well as supporting other white folks in this work. My practice is rooted in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and health equity. Our mental health is not only our individual biologies and brains, we are shaped by the systems we exist within and this has a direct correlation to our physical well being as well. My experience encompass the areas related to college readiness/preparation, pre- and post-college transitions, depression, anxiety, low self-image/self-esteem, relationship conflicts, academic stress, and bereavement. I am invested in working with my clients to provide them with the tools and skills to achieve their personal goals and improve overall sense of well-being. I’m Alexandra Casamassima (a mouthful, I know), a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. More specifically, I help people create positive change in their lives when they are struggling. I have expertise in working with women. This includes college students or millennials going through a “quarter life crisis,” the pregnancy and postpartum period, and beyond.
