I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with 20 years of experience working in mental health. I have worked in a variety of settings and roles - both inpatient and outpatient - treating patients from all walks of life. While I primarily prescribe medication, I try to incorporate holistic approaches to care when appropriate. My goal is support my clients in meeting their mental health goals to improve their quality of life.
I offer specialized individual and group therapy for teenagers and young adults in Massachusetts, and I specialize primarily in trauma recovery, men’s mental health, and complex family & intimate relationship dynamics. I see patients both via virtual telehealth sessions and for walk-and-talk therapy sessions in nature when fitting. I am most experienced working with those coping with trauma, going through family challenges, grappling with their identity (e.g., men's/masculinity issues, faith and sexuality/coming out, racial trauma, social class), striving to be in healthy relationships, as well as those exploring therapy for the first time. I work from the belief that our relationships with others and ourselves can be a source of deep suffering as well as a powerful window into self-discovery, intimacy, and healing. Therapy with me is a blend of support, curiosity, humor, challenging honesty, and the freedom to be and feel just as you are. Reach out to see if I might be a good fit for you.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focus CBT, and Motivational Interviewing. I have a flexible personality, trying my best to put myself in your shoes and start where you are at. I have experience working with a wide range of diagnoses, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities, domestic violence, trauma, bipolar, schizophrenia and working with those affected by someone else’s drug addiction. I’m LGBTQ+ allied. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Anthem, Atena, Always, United Health Care, United Behavioral Health Care, Harvard Pilgrim and Mass General Brigham Women. Feel free to reach out to me, for a free phone consult to see if I could be a good match for you.

Hey Hey Hey! I’m Lenora Benson (She/Her/Hers), LICSW and I support black and ethnic minority women, in navigating the challenges and expectations imposed on them by the fallacy of the strong black women. I support all women in navigating the social expectations, stressors, and demands of being woman, as they intersect in all areas of racism, sexism, and patriarchism. I believe in the transformative power of therapy, because it has transformed me personally. As your therapist, I provide a safe, supportive, and judgement free space for you to explore your emotions, heal from past wounds, and journey from darkness to the light. My goals are to help those struggling with low self-esteem, people pleasing tendencies, and high-achieving perfectionism, dismantle the beliefs that keeps them stuck in patterns of behavior that leave them feeling like imposters; never good enough, never smart enough. Working with me will allow you to begin to make decisions for yourself that leave you feeling loved, worthy, and empowered.
Life requires constant adjustment. For many of us, this makes life more challenging. Do you struggle with life adjustments, mood disorders, or anxiety? If so, I am here to help. As your therapist, I will give you a judgment-free environment where I will help you combat your negative thoughts and find a positive way to move in whatever direction life brings. I will empathetically challenge you to come out of your comfort zone and see the world from a new perspective. I will give you the tools to heal, transform, identify, and utilize your strengths to address everyday challenges. Equally, I will provide you with time to make those adjustments, as we all know there can be setbacks along the way, but that doesn’t have to stop us. Together, we will build a stronger community. One of my goals for you is that as I help you become a better version of yourself, you will be equipped to help those around you–creating a ripple effect of world-changing power. Hi, I'm Elizabeth and I'm so glad you're here! Therapy doesn't have to be stiff or serious all the time. In fact, I believe feeling comfortable enough to be your full, unfiltered self– including laughing, swearing, crying, or just sitting quietly– is where the real work happens. I use humor, compassion, & a deep respect for your lived experience to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are. A big part of my work is helping folks build a better relationship with their bodies- whether you're fat, thin, in between, transitioning, aging, disabled, or just feeling disconnected from yourself. I work with people of all ages! I am trained in EMDR and also pull from modalities like CBT, DBT, and IFS. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; you’re not a checklist, you're a complex, layered person. I approach body image through the lens of fat acceptance and body liberation. Together we can explore what it means to live in your body without shame, pressure, or apology. Therapy with me is collaborative, affirming, and shaped by your needs, goals, and pace. As a queer person myself, I understand the importance of feeling seen, safe, & understood. If you're looking for a therapist who can hold the hard stuff, laugh with you through the weird stuff, and support you in building a life that actually feels like yours- let’s talk!
I see clients as lifelong learners and the experts in their lives. I work from a narrative perspective to help people see how the stories of their lives impact them in ways they may not always be aware of. Sometimes problems have a way of getting so big that people feel their problems are their identity. I will work with you to challenge that idea, and get space from what is bothering you. I help clients explore what they’ve heard about how people are “supposed to be.” I work to help clients figure out where these stories come from, and how these ideas affect them. I work collaboratively to help clients determine how these dominant stories intersect with their own hopes and preferences, so that clients can actively re-create their stories in ways that better fit their values.

Whatever it is that has brought you here, welcome! I work with folks facing a range of issues, with a specialty in trauma, anxiety, family conflict, LGBTQIA+ identity, and relationship issues. If you experience stress from caring for/about others and our environment, I am ready to support you. I am a climate-aware therapist, meaning I recognize climate grief and eco-anxiety as legitimate responses to a global crisis and important areas of attention in therapy to help you better navigate our changing world. In therapy, I attend to ways in which the ideas, actions and policies in our communities, cultures and families can be sources of both pain and resilience. I am committed to providing queer- and LGBTQIA+ affirming care, and I believe in the collaborative exploration of all intersections of identity that feel important to you. My experience informs my work. My career in international humanitarian aid and gender-based violence lends a unique perspective to trauma-informed care. Trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, I bring neuroscience and the mind-body connection into therapy. Our work will explore how the body holds past experiences and how it can help you heal. I also support people in therapeutically integrating psychedelic experiences. I look forward to getting started!
The journey towards self-discovery is a valuable and worthwhile endeavor, deserving of the effort required to connect with one's authentic self. I believe in the inherent capacity for individuals to thrive and undergo meaningful personal growth. Throughout our work together we will create an environment where vulnerability is embraced, challenging conversations occur, and discomfort is acknowledged as a catalyst for growth and change, as we explore and unravel learned patterns that may no longer serve you. My therapeutic approach is characterized by flexibility, adapting to your unique needs and preferences. I highly value your feedback, ensuring that our collaboration is a dynamic and responsive process. Grounded in an intersectional understanding of trauma, neurodiversity, and systemic oppression, I aim not only to delve into your internal world but also to consider the impact of external factors on your well-being. Therapy with me involves taking the time to connect with your joys, struggles, history, and hopes, facilitating a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of yourself. Focusing on complex trauma and neurodiversity, I have a profound appreciation for the richness and complexity of people's stories. I am committed to supporting your growth and change while acknowledging and welcoming all facets of your identity. Furthermore, I am dedicated to my own ongoing learning on social justice topics and anti-racism, recognizing the importance of understanding my own identities (both privileged and marginalized) to create an inclusive and empathic therapeutic environment. I believe that my work as a therapist is not just about individual growth but empowering my clients to recognize and dismantle the damaging and broken systems in their lives. As the therapeutic relationship is central to our work and not every therapist is going to be the best fit for you, I encourage you to take advantage of my 15 minute free consultation. This way we can discuss what you are looking for from therapy and I can answer any questions you might have about starting therapy with me. I look forward to hearing from you!
