Therapists for college students near Duke University
Welcome. I am Dr. Christiane Speed. I am a licensed psychologist in CA and NC. I have been practicing for over 12 years and possess extensive experience working with college and university students both in CA and NC. I enjoy helping students regain a sense of control and empowerment over their life struggles so that they can engage and enjoy life more fully and create a healthier academic and personal life balance. A major part of therapy involves helping students adapt to student life, balance school and personal life. Students come to see for help with how to communicate effectively in relationships, and to learn practical coping skills for stress and time management. We work on identifying and managing procrastination, increasing motivation and goal directed activities and setting very clear, realistic, achievable goals and having a growth mindset. Other areas of work might include managing and resolving interpersonal problems, setting healthy emotional, physical and personal boundaries, improving family, friendship and romantic relationships and overall functioning. My areas of specialty include anxiety (including generalized anxiety disorder, health anxiety, imposter syndrome, OCD, social anxiety, specific phobia), complex stress and life struggles, depression , grief and loss. I take a flexible and individualized approach to treatment and integrate effective techniques from different approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Therapy. To gain a more holistic understanding, treatment also addresses how cultural, family, medical, physical, social, societal and spiritual factors interact with each client's unique life struggles. My main focus is getting to know each of my client's unique life experiences, difficulties and needs so that I can tailor therapy to best suit what will work best for that client. If you feel that we would be a good fit working together, please contact me to schedule an appointment. I look forward to the potential of working with you.

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her). I work with people navigating life transitions, relationship stress, grief, self-esteem challenges, identity exploration, anxiety, and depression. If you’re here, I imagine you might be experiencing some of this yourself—perhaps feeling isolated, longing to make sense of what you’re going through. Together, we’ll uncover patterns and create clarity so you can better understand yourself and your needs. I'm committed to honoring your unique way of being in the world, supporting you as you reconnect with your inner wisdom and pursue meaningful change. I take a person-centered approach to counseling, which means that I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental therapeutic space. I also integrate Expressive Arts therapy techniques when clinically appropriate, including visual art, writing, mindfulness, and body-integrated approaches. I'm an LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity affirming counselor. I know how vulnerable it can be to let someone into your healing process, to trust that your experiences will be held with compassion and care. As someone who has walked my own healing path, I deeply understand this. Please reach out for a free 15-minute consultation to connect and learn more about how we might work together.

Tiffany is a native of Mississippi graduating from the prestigious Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. Tiffany has been providing counseling services since 2012 and Neurofeedback services since 2014. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. Tiffany is one of only three clinicians in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Region who is Board Certified in Neurofeedback from The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) and a certified mentor for the BCIA board certification process helping train other practitioners to become board certified in neurofeedback. Tiffany is a the only clinician in the region who has the Quantitative EEG-Diplomate Licensed (QEEG-DL) certification from the QEEG Certification Board. She is certified in HeartMath and serves as adjunct faculty at Wake Forest University in the graduate counseling program. Tiffany has received didactic training to read QEEG brain maps and administer scientifically based neurofeedback training from her mentor, Robert E. Longo, MRC, LCMHC, BCN; Richard Soutar, PhD, BCN (Alpha Theta Training); Tiff Thompson, PhD, MFT, BCN, QEEGDL, REEGT (QEEG Training), and Sebern Fisher (Neurofeedback and Developmental Trauma). Click here to listen to Tiffany’s talk on Developmental Trauma. When Tiffany began her career, she used more well-known techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, but it wasn’t long before she became increasingly aware that the mental health field needed alternatives. Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain's ability to change itself allowing a person of any age to make changes in behavior and thinking patterns more easily. Using a combination of counseling and Neurofeedback, Tiffany began to see more substantial changes in her client's lives. Currently, Tiffany utilizes Neurofeedback and Heart Rate Variability in combination with traditional counseling. Click here to read Tiffany’s article on the popular Blog—Triad Mom’s on Main. Tiffany works with a variety of clientele utilizing a person-centered approach, which means sessions will start with you and your needs. Together, we will explore the issues that you bring to counseling in a holistic way with emphasis on emotional and personal history perspectives. Tiffany‘s experience has allowed her to work closely with many children, teenagers, and adults of different needs and backgrounds where she brings enthusiasm, compassion and cross-cultural understanding to her work towards healing and wholeness.
Life can be relentless and present challenges that feel overwhelming. It takes strength to ask for help and courage to become vulnerable with someone new. I recognize this and will work at your pace to form a trusting relationship with you where you can feel safe, validated, and respected. I have experience working with teens and adults who find themselves worrying about the future or things they cannot control. I have worked with people who are processing past hurtful and stressful life events so they can find a sense of strength and security in the present. I enjoy helping people see their worth so their self-talk transforms. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to help clients explore the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while learning skills to better navigate their daily life. I also incorporate mindfulness exercises to build a stronger mind-body connection and stay grounded in the present moment. You are worthy of having an unbiased space where you feel safe to process your experiences.
Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile. I am married with a 6 year old boy and a 2 year old lab/pit bull mix. I have been in this field for over 15 years and enjoy helping others to reach their maximum potential.
Hi, I'm Danielle. I help people build more confidence in themselves, make peace with their bodies, and improve their relationships. On the surface, you might hold it together pretty well. You try so hard to keep up in your classes, stay busy, and show up for your friends. The thing is, no one knows how overwhelmed, insecure, and lonely you really feel. There's a vague but heavy sense of self-doubt that interferes with your decisions, self-confidence, and relationships. On some level, you know there's got to be another way, and there IS! You can feel more peace, find your voice, build self-trust, and step into the life you actually want. I'd love to help you get there! My goal is to provide a safe space for you to feel like you can fully be yourself, process your experiences, and figure out how to become the best version of yourself. I believe therapy is tough, serious work, AND it can also be filled with laughter and lightness. I have worked extensively throughout my career with clients struggling with self-esteem, whether that shows up in anxiety, depression, eating disorders, body image issues, or relationship/dating issues. We'll start by building insight and awareness around the patterns and behaviors you're struggling with. From there, we'll work to make the meaningful changes needed to build a life you're proud of and excited about. If this resonates with you, you're in the right place! You can learn more about me on my website or by reaching out to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

I work with adults and adolescents who are struggling with the challenges of daily life or who feel weighed down by issues of the past. My clients are often people who struggle with anxiety, depression, identity issues, grief, stress, or relationship issues. My ideal client is ready for change, or contemplating what the first steps of change look like. I practice exclusively through teletherapy sessions, and require clients to have reliable and consistent access to internet services. I offer a safe space for BIPOC, women, LGBTQIA+/trans/poly, neurodivergent, and other diverse communities. I am a very direct person, known for my honesty and “cut-to-the-chase” attitude. Over my years of practice, I have become known for my strength in work with teenagers and young adults, who have described me as “relatable” and “trusted.” I also enjoy helping adults work through life transitions and exploring issues of self identity and purpose. I believe strongly in the validation of clients’ feelings and experiences, to help remove stigma and shame. I believe that with support, clients can be empowered to make difficult decisions and take charge of their own growth.
