Therapists for college students near Duke University
As a therapist practicing for over 15 years, I thoroughly enjoy working with students as they learn to navigate life. Many times, it can be incredibly challenging to balance school, social relationships, jobs and other responsibilities. My goal as your therapist is to allow you to express your feelings in a non-judgmental and safe space, as well as provide you with skills to improve your overall quality of life. I work with adolescents, adults, as well as couples and families. Additionally, I specialize working with all aspects of eating disorders from anorexia to binge eating. Licensed in Arizona and North Carolina.
With me, you’ll find a supportive space that recognizes life doesn’t always go as planned. Goals can shift—not as a reflection of your effort or worth, but often because of the realities life brings. Together, we’ll regularly revisit and adjust your goals to ensure they stay aligned with your needs and enhance your quality of life, even as circumstances change. I currently serve the profession as a counselor educator and supervisor while maintaining a small private practice, Rhythms of Hope, LLC. I also serve my community as a licensed clinician, an approved and licensed clinical supervisor, a board certified telemental health provider, and a nationally credentialed counselor. My greatest joy as a counselor is being able to support clients in becoming empowered to navigate shifting tides of their life while accounting for the reality of the unknown. I desire to not only enhance access to mental health support but also destigmatize mental health while enhancing access to wellness. Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot or feeling stuck in a “funk." Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are finally ready to talk through it in a supportive space. Or maybe you simply want to feel heard and understood as you navigate a tough transition in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it. While anxiety and trauma may leave us feeling depleted, I believe that counseling can help us find our most authentic and resilient selves through these experiences. My aims are to listen with non-judgment, to help you identify the goals and steps toward them that feel right for you, and to offer support, tools, and even a gentle nudge when you need it. We will co-create a space that feels safe enough to talk about the hard stuff in life, while also shining plenty of light on what helps you feel hopeful and positive. The decision to start counseling is not an easy one, and I know feeling a good connection with your counselor matters. I am passionate about building genuine and effective relationships with my clients and find that empathy, authenticity, and even humor are helpful tools in doing so. Please feel free to reach out about setting up a free phone consultation. I offer a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions based on the needs, preferences, and health status of both myself and my clients. Rates listed below are cash pay rates as of May 2022; out-of-pocket expenses to clients using insurance will vary based on their specific insurance plans, so please confirm the coverage of your specific plan prior to initiating services.

I will help you move to your place of purpose and meaning, as well as evoke your innate healing ability. You deserve stellar care. Visit or call for free 15 minute consultation. As a yoga instructor, I will draw (if you wish) from ancient healing techniques and practices; this includes breath work, mindfulness, meditation and philosophical teachings. As a specialist in primary care behavioral health, I am able to focus your treatment comprehensively, integrating your physical and mental well-being. No matter your ailment, I will provide you with focused, dedicated, experienced, and compassionate care. You will feel relief on your first visit, and after some time working together, you can expect tremendous growth and healing. This goes for individuals, couples, and groups.
Do you feel guilty if you say no to someone or ask for help with something? Do you feel like you're too much or too emotional? Do you want to stop dysfunctional family patterns and break generational trauma? Do you want to stop using coping skills that hurt you or your loved ones? If you answered yes to any of these, then you've come to the right spot. Together, we can discover the root causes behind your struggles with anger, anxiety, guilt, shame, depression, codependency, disorganized eating or low-self esteem. It only takes one person to break a cycle and together we can get you to where you want to be in your healing journey. I empower women, men and teenagers by giving them tools to find their voice and advocate for what they need. My goal is to work myself out of a job and give you the tools that you need to be successful. I bring a trauma-informed approach to my sessions that focuses on mindfulness, relaxation, self compassion and advocating for what your needs are.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I'm committed to providing compassionate and effective support to individuals, couples, and families. My approach combines a blend of empathy, humor, and energy to create a safe and engaging therapeutic environment. People come to me for support with worries, mood difficulties, adjustment to life changes, identity exploration or relationship issues, and to learn ways to both change and adapt. Whatever brings you to this process at this time, it’s important that you find someone you can develop a sense of safety and trust with in order to bring your full, authentic self to the work. The therapeutic connection is a huge part of successful therapy, so my work is first and foremost relational in nature, through which I help you define your goals and together develop a plan to meet them.
