It’s not always one defining event—often, it’s the cumulative impact of stress, anxiety, low self-worth, and unprocessed experiences that gradually erode your sense of well-being. Perhaps depressive symptoms have taken hold, or past experiences are continuing to show up in ways you can’t control. I work with teens and adults who are ready to explore what's beneath the surface and begin the work of healing. My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in evidence-based practices. Whether we're unpacking the impact of trauma, exploring ways to better manage mental health symptoms or rebuilding your sense of self, we'll approach the process collaboratively and at a pace your nervous system can manage. When you're struggling with an eating disorder, anxiety, or depression, the idea of opening up and trusting another person can be HARD. I know that you've likely heard so many messages throughout your life about what you should do and who you should be, but I don't think that "shoulds" have a place in therapy. Who do you WANT to be? How do you WANT to feel? That is way more important than any shoulds, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you start to find answers to these questions over time. Together, we can unravel those expectations - what you've been told it means to be healthy or successful or fill in the blank - and get to the heart of what really matters to you and what you need. Being a human is messy, and as your therapist, I'll be right there in that space with you as a human first, therapist second. Let's explore what it means to be humans in a world that expects perfection (which doesn't exist!) and pushes you to grind until you're too burned out to do the things you actually want to do. I have many tools in my toolbox to support you, but to me the most important thing I can do is to provide you a safe space to explore your experience in its entirety at your own pace - to build a connection that is strong enough for you to know that I won't judge you or make you bad or wrong for how you are feeling or for using certain behaviors to cope. It's what you've known to do up to this point, so let's put our heads together and find the ways that this has made sense so we can look at it from a place of compassion instead of judgment. I hold a special place in my heart for those who are working towards eating disorder recovery who feel like they aren't sick enough because their body size, race, sexuality, or gender identity don't match what they are seeing on social media under the eating disorder hashtags. All identities are welcome here, and no matter what your circumstances, your concerns are valid, you ARE sick enough, and you deserve compassionate, equitable care. If you are overwhelmed, defeated and anxiety ridden we can help you to increase your skills, and awareness and take action. We work with our clients by ADHD, executive function and academic coaching to improve their executive function skills to find new successes and increase their confidence. Learning to take action and experience success creates confidence and provides a whole new perspective of hope and strength. Coaching is through live video session that vary from twice per week or four times per week. Private coach and student messaging take place between sessions to address questions, provide accountability check-ins and send resources. It is incredibly powerful to work with my clients to create change and witness them build confidence in themselves. If someone is super motivated and ready to work through their stuff, I can do that. If someone isn’t there yet and they need to problem solve marriage issues and don’t want to dig into the past, I can support that too. Therapy with me is a collaborative process. You determine the pace, the goal, the direction. My passion is utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) as an intervention to help you go inward and find your solutions. You are the best expert in your life and I urge you to understand and trust your gut reaction. EMDR is an intervention that is particularly effective for helping individuals who have experienced distressing events; and there is strong data supporting the use of EMDR to alleviate symptoms of OCD, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and shifting negative core beliefs. My experience also includes working with individuals who have experienced trauma. This includes individuals who use or have used substances to cope. I have worked as an in-home therapist to children and families. This experience provided an up close look at the family system and the impact of trauma on that system. With Awareness, Comes Growth You can generate happiness and contentment from within yourself. It is possible to be calm and set boundaries with others. You can learn to identify the things that have shaped you and understand how this impacts your automatic responses.
