I’m not a “nod quietly and ask how that makes you feel” kind of therapist. I’m here to be present, ask meaningful questions, and help you sort through what’s keeping you stuck. My clients describe me as warm, thoughtful, and easy to talk to. My goal is to make therapy a place where you feel safe showing up exactly as you are, messiness and all.
Do you sometimes feel as though you are an actor, playing a role in public, but living very differently in private? Do you engage in behaviors that you might not be totally proud to reveal? Maybe its getting high, or gaming, or gambling or porn. To me, it doesn't really matter. and it doesn't really matter whether these actions are seen by others as "good" or "bad." My concern is you. If you are engaging in behaviors that you feel ashamed of, that you have tried to cut down or cut out but couldn't, then I want to help. We can work together to identify what is helpful and what is not, see where these behaviors fit into your life and make adjustments as needed. I am a body-based trauma-informed therapist with a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy. I use the creative process and visualization as a tool for exploration. The imagination can bypass the parts of the brain that keep us stuck in unwanted behaviors and can more easily access the parts that hold the answers. By engaging the mind and body with resources that calm the central nervous system, we have greater access to the pain filled memories impeding us from reaching our full potential and allow insight to surface. I integrate CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model), a neurobiological trauma model to help release traumatic events that may be locked into the body by using resources that can be used between sessions.
