Hi, I'm Dr. Franks! When I see students, I conduct an initial session where I provide a diagnosis (if present) and can recommend and provide medications and/or therapy for treatment. I enjoy working with students because their task to start living on their own and develop their own identity is uniquely challenging and exciting. I can help with the diagnosis and treatment of things like depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, etc. Symptoms that my patients commonly struggle with include worry, sadness, suicidal thinking, stress, insomnia, and trouble concentrating. I am passionate about working with motivated students to help them thrive during their time in college. I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Denver, earning degrees in Biology, Chemistry, and French. I completed my medical and residency training at the University of Colorado, where I had the privilege of serving as Chief Resident. I have since worked in private practice. I look forward to working with you!

My Philosophy Therapy should be a safe place to talk about what is bothering you. It’s a place to gain self-awareness and insight and work toward feeling better with a qualified therapist who cares. It should be affordable and accessible. It should be tailored to your needs alone. And it shouldn’t last for years! How does that sound? I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have a BA from the University of Michigan and an MA in Mental Health Counseling from New York University where I graduated summa cum laude. I spent three years in the Counseling Unit at Long Island University working with college-age students focusing on crisis management, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress, individuation, suicidal thoughts and much more. I am a referral resource for the University of Pennsylvania, Adelphi University, Long Island University and Molloy College. I currently have a private practice in East Norwich where I work with older teenagers and adults.

Providing a safe and validating space for others is a value of mine. This has lead me to pursuing a Doctorate in Psychology and thus far 8 years of experience. Throughout my training and career, I've always gravitated towards the college/graduate school population. I've especially appreciated working with students on relationships, identity, and self-love. Being a South-Asian, I've also enjoyed exploring cultural/ethnic/racial identity with clients. In a therapy session my approach is inviting, warm, curious, and a grounding presence. I strongly believe clients are experts on themselves; hence my approach to therapy is empowering and encouraging clients to lean into experiences to meet their goals. I like to use the metaphor that my clients are in the driver's seat and I'm there to support them as they explore where they want to go. Along with a multicultural lens, some therapeutic orientations I often pull from are CBT, ACT, and IFS. Gift-giving is important in many cultures and hence the gift I want to give clients is hope, validation, and safety. I also strive to plant the seeds of empowerment and self-love in clients and continue to nurture that together throughout our sessions. I encourage clients to try out various exercises/skills in between sessions to continue to meet their goals. Overall I hope a client leaves our sessions feeling supported, heard, and respected.
Hey there! Are you looking for a fresh perspective, a safe space to process your experiences (past and present), and someone to offer suggestions on how to change up patterns that are no longer serving you? I can help! I'm here to be your partner as we work together to develop a better understanding of your authentic self and create positive change in your life. I love working with clients on topics like anxiety, life transitions, relationships and self-esteem, and I also have experience supporting clients with depression, substance abuse/addiction recovery, and challenging family dynamics. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy and I also utilize a lot of techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, but I'll often pull from a variety of evidence-based modalities to best fit your specific needs and goals. Does it sound like you and I could be a good fit? Send me an email and we can chat more about setting up an intake session. I look forward to connecting with you!
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I've had the pleasure of providing therapy since 2018. I have over a decade of experience working with a range of populations from young adults to geriatrics. I support people through a variety of issues including tackling depression, anxiety and major life transitions. I prioritize human connection and feel that is strengthened when we are able to be our authentic selves. I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy. Your pace is my pace. I can provide you with strategies and coping skills to manage your symptoms in a non-judgmental space. I offer a warm and welcoming environment for open conversations, while also holding you accountable to your goals. During our first session together, you will have the opportunity to share about yourself and your goals for therapy. If this is something you are unsure of, we can figure that out together. Therapy doesn't have to be so scary. I aim for you to feel comfortable, heard and empowered. I enjoy helping people thrive and be the best versions of themselves. Humor is incorporated in much of what I do. When all else fails, we will find ways to laugh together!
As a psychologist, I partner with clients to help them heal from raw emotional pain, recognize their inner strengths, and build resiliency in the face of life’s biggest challenges. My style is one that is warm and nurturing while also direct and honest. If you’re feeling stuck, not good enough, lonely, overwhelmed, devastated, or ashamed, you are not alone. I have dedicated my career to learning gold standard treatments to ensure that when clients have the courage to reach out for help, I am able to offer treatment interventions that they can trust will make a difference. I am a clinical specialist with expertise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of trauma/PTSD, relationship issues, depression, complicated grief (suicide loss, perinatal loss), and unwanted sexual experiences (rape, sexual assault, harassment, violence). I began practicing in 2005 and have been a licensed psychologist since 2010.

Have you been feeling lost or stuck? Feeling disconnected with yourself? Or feeling alone in the challenges you are facing? I believe that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have; that we are shaped by the tools we have adopted or have learned throughout our lives. However, these tools aren’t always enough, or don’t serve us in the ways we truly need. Many of our emotional challenges or struggles come from pieces of ourselves that are hurt or misunderstood. While these experiences can feel isolating, this is not a journey you have to approach alone. I work with clients to help them explore their identities, develop self-compassion, process trauma, and learn more effective ways to identify and manage their emotions. Through a mix of counseling modalities, we will work together to help you heal and feel better equipped to handle both current challenges and those you may face in the future. As someone who's been on the "other side of the couch", I understand that starting therapy can feel intimidating; not knowing if things are going to "get better" can be scary. However, therapy is not always about just moving forward, but rather sometimes visiting the past or sitting in the present so that you can grow and feel more prepared for the future.
