I believe that clients are experts in themselves, and the counseling process serves as a vehicle for exploration, understanding, and change. Adversity and negative past experiences are part of all of our stories, but they do not define us. Counseling gives a space to reflect into the past providing an understanding of the influence these experiences have on our lives today. Using clients' insights, strengths and resilience I support and help our clients become the people they wish to be. My favorite part of supporting client's is supporting them in self-discovery and strengthening their sense of self. I strongly believe in providing high quality services to all individuals and affirming the dignity, worth and value of all. My approach as a therapist is a person-centered approach and strength based. I am also trained in CBT and integrate different interventions to meet client needs. I strive to create an open safe space for individuals to be their authentic-self and receive acceptance, kindness, and support. My goal for you is to give you the space you deserve to show the most authentic version of yourself feeling supported and empowered. I am a recent graduate from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine earning my Master's in Mental Health Counseling. I am the proud owner of Project Rise Counseling & Advocacy. My practice primarily serves LGBTQ+, queer, trans, and gender-expansive adults, alongside individuals navigating complex trauma, relational patterns, and perinatal mental health concerns. My clinical approach is supportive, affirming, trauma-informed, and grounded in relational and attachment-based frameworks. I integrate an awareness of how systems of power, identity, and lived experience shape mental health, and I strive to hold both individual healing and broader context in view. I have specialized focus in complex trauma, including childhood trauma, relational trauma, and attachment wounds. Many of my clients are exploring identity development, processing experiences of minority stress, or seeking a therapeutic space where they can fully express their gender and sexual identities without needing to justify or defend them. I also provide affirming care for individuals during pregnancy, postpartum transitions, fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, and other reproductive experiences. I am particularly mindful of the unique emotional and systemic considerations that may arise for LGBTQ+ individuals and families during these periods. While no therapeutic space can be perfectly free from the impact of broader social forces, I am deeply committed to creating a therapy environment that feels brave, collaborative, and respectful. I engage in ongoing consultation, supervision, and continuing education to support culturally responsive and identity-affirming care. We are an association of therapists, each with a unique perspective and set of skills that are as individual as each of our clients. It is reasonable that not every Therapist is for you. With our team you have options to see who is the best fit for your needs. We implement a cognitive coaching style of effective psychotherapy which instills self-understanding and encourages adoption of new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. Therapy does not need to be a life long endeavor and we teach our clients the tools to help themselves. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results.
Thoughts can be overwhelming. If you find yourself unable to turn your thoughts off, or if you've ever been told that you're hard on yourself then we can work on making your thoughts and emotions feel more manageable for you. Maybe right now grief, anxiety, or depression are really loud, and together to make them feel less intimidating. We can also work on communication skills, relationship patterns, setting boundaries (knowing when to say no or when to push yourself), and helping you recover from and managing burn-out so that you don't feel trapped to keep pouring from an empty cup.
