I truly believe that everyone has the capacity to grow when they’re in a space that feels safe and accepting. At the heart of my work is building a genuine, trusting connection with you—because real healing begins when you feel truly seen, heard, understood, and accepted. Together, we’ll create a warm and welcoming space where vulnerability is embraced and self-exploration feels comfortable. Above all, I’m here to hold space for you with kindness and openness, honoring your unique needs, passions, experiences, wisdom, and hopes for the future. Specializations I’m especially passionate about supporting adults who grew up with caregivers who, for various reasons, may not have met their emotional needs.Together, we work to heal from those early experiences, find your true voice, clarify what matters most to you, and create a life that feels authentic, grounded, and free. I work with clients ages 15 and up to navigate challenges related to: Childhood relational trauma, emotionally immature parents, & unmet emotional needs Relationship patterns, boundaries, people-pleasing, & guilt Exploring identity, values, & personal growth Identity diffusion & enmeshment Shame, self-doubt, & indecisiveness Life transitions & emerging adulthood Grief & loss Anxiety, depression, & low self-worth Emotional regulation & distress tolerance Could We be a Good Fit? Clients who tend to do well with me often appreciate a little lightheartedness or humor during our sessions and enjoy putting what we talk about into practice between meetings—sometimes through small homework or weekly goals. Many have found it helpful to bring their creative interests into our work, which helps us build a space where you can feel safe, inspired, and free to be your authentic self. I’ve also noticed that adolescents, young adults, and college students often feel especially comfortable and connected in our time together. Therapeutic Approaches My approach to therapy is primarily rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with curiosity and work toward making the changes you’d like to see in yourself. For those who resonate with this approach, I incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support compassionate exploration of your inner parts. I also use a person-centered and trauma-informed lens, honoring the impact of your life experiences and creating a space where all parts of you are welcome. While CBT and IFS are my go-to methods, I like to keep things flexible, drawing from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to tailor our work to what feels right for you. My hope is that you find a space in therapy that feels human, welcoming, and uniquely yours. If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to connect and explore how we can work together in a way that supports your growth. I currently offer teletherapy sessions at River Wards Wellness Collective. Hi there, my name is Alyssa Leister! I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling. I’m deeply passionate about supporting clients through these difficult times, offering guidance and understanding as we navigate life’s complexities together. I want you to know that you don’t have to walk it alone. I understand that stepping into counseling can feel vulnerable, but my goal is to help you see how transformative this journey can be by working to create a safe and open space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and emotions. My approach is rooted in authenticity, and I believe in the power of curiosity to spark meaningful change. As we work together, I’ll support you in uncovering your inner resilience, building practical skills to cope with life’s challenges, and developing the tools necessary to move forward. My aim is not just to help you heal but to empower you to live a life filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Whatever you’re navigating, I’m here to walk alongside you every step of the way. Hi there! Thank you for pausing here. Deciding to look for help was hard to begin with and finding the right helper seems even more difficult, I know. Whatever issues you are facing, perhaps its depression that is attached to your past, stress related to your present, or anxiety that is attaching itself to your future, I can help you work through it. It’s a privilege for me to be able to share lessons of hope and walk alongside my clients, until they have the breakthrough that they so desperately desire. My greatest joy is to see you step out from darkness into a brighter, lighter future – stronger, wiser, and hopeful! Life has not always been easy, so let's talk about it. There’s a Japanese practice of using liquid gold to fill in the cracks of broken pottery. Kintsugi, as it’s called, teaches that broken objects are not something to hide but to display with pride. I am here to help you fill the cracks and move on with your life. The one that is truly meant for you. - Talk soon, Gloria
Many of us have been emotionally wounded by family members, friends, loved ones, co-workers, and/or strangers. Psychological suffering can take on many forms, showing up in our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships. Sometimes it can be experienced as sadness, depression, worry, anxiety, etc. This form of suffering, while painful, often points to the parts of ourselves that invite healing. And while the challenges of living with such experiences can be immense, they also present opportunities for growth. The truth is that you can find peace of mind, solace in your heart, and live joyfully, regardless of your past. I offer a caring, non-judgmental space where you can re-discover your ability to heal. Like the alchemist who was said to transmute base materials into gold, as a depth psychologist, I can help you transform your tragedies into triumphs. And like the phoenix who rises from the ashes, I can help you rise from despair, so that you can become your true self. Knowing that taking this step toward your own healing involves vulnerability and courage, I am filled with gratitude and look forward to speaking with you, learning how I can be of support. I welcome your questions and am both honored and humbled to be part of your journey. May you be filled with the peace that surpasses all understanding.

I work from a person centered perspective, but always open to expanding. I've assisted clients in getting connected to appropriate resources when needed. I work from a very client centered approach, as this is your treatment and I want you to get the most of it! If you feel as though you need support and guidance, I am open to free fifteen minute consultations to see if we would be a good fit to work together!
