Are you struggling? Is your mental health struggles getting in the way of your academic performance or social relationships? If so, I would love to help! I have over 19 years experience and 8 of those were at University Counseling Centers. I have worked both at the University of Pittsburgh and West Virginia University. Counseling can be intimidating and I believe that creating a trusting therapeutic relationship is a vital part of making it feel more comfortable. I work hard to collaborate with you- I listen to what is going on and has been getting in the way of being the best version of you. Together we will develop treatment goals to help you get back to a great place. I am passionate about working with people who are struggling with identity concerns, anxiety, depression, parenting concerns, interpersonal/relationship concerns, self-esteem, stress management, substance use concerns or trying to recover from a history of trauma. I utilize an integrative approach through a multicultural lens in my work meeting the client where they are at and learning about their goals, strengths and struggles that they want to overcome. I love to use a strength based approach that is client centered and solution focused. I am passionate about integrating physical exercise and skill building into treatment to help with sustainability of progress. Lastly, from my experience, clients who do the best in treatment are ones who do work outside of our appointments to apply and utilize the skills/resources we are discussing.

It takes courage to share personal information with someone new. Individuals and families are facing a lot of stress and difficulties which makes psychotherapy incredibly important. Progress can occur and is to be expected with shared treatment goals and ongoing communication. Let's find out if I am a good match for your needs with an initial call.

Hello! This is Dr. Lavanya Devdas, woman of color, immigrant, and a licensed psychologist in PA. I am also certified by the mindfulness meditation teacher training program under Dr. Jack Kornfield and Dr. Tara Brach. I recently completed a two year training program, The Three Doors, a Tibetan based meditation program from which I incorporate somatic based and meditation techniques. I provide in-person and telehealth mental health therapy and consultation services to meet the demands of the changing landscape we live in. I also offer workshops, presentations on stress, adjustment to college, mindfulness coping tools among other topics and offer short-term consultation sessions, including online and in-person groups. Existential concerns from anxiety, work-life balance, stress to relational challenges, isolation, intersecting identities conflict and low mood are common experiences of human nature; simultaneously, when we are grappling with the uncertainty of the socio-political climate, and adjustment to life transitions, and collective biases, it is challenging to regulate anxious and depressed mood, social isolation, stress and cultural adjustment related challenges. It affects who we are, our thought patterns, feelings, and the way we understand and respond to the environment. We are not alone, and you do not have to do this alone. I offer relational therapy through a collaborative therapeutic relationship with a striving for you to feel seen and heard in a safe, genuine therapeutic milieu. My authenticity as your therapist includes integrating culturally sensitive therapy such as mindfulness based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and client centered therapy in providing immediate feedback, using mindfulness based strategies and concrete, specific tools based on your strengths, as your coping repertoire. Supportive, therapeutic relationships can help. So please do not wait. Reach out now.

Relationships can be hard. Communication can be challenging. Feeling anxious, uncertain, directionless, or out-of-control can feel overwhelming and at times debilitating. It is so easy to become stuck in a cycle of frustration or hopelessness which creates thought loops fixated on these feelings. It can feel impossible to see what lies beyond the immediate struggles we can’t seem to work through. While most of us feel the need to address these struggles, so few of us have the time or energy to “fix” these stuck points and successfully move past them. That’s where I step in to help. If interested, please send me an email and we'll schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good fit.

I view therapy as a deeply collaborative and relational process. Together, we will work to develop a deeper understanding of your experiences, patterns, and emotions—helping you build insight, create meaningful change, and foster personal growth. By gaining greater self-awareness, you can begin to navigate internal and relational challenges, explore the connections between your past and present, and move toward a more intentional and fulfilling future. My approach integrates a range of therapeutic modalities, with a strong foundation in psychodynamic and relational therapy. I am also extensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which I use to support individuals in developing emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I strive to provide person-centered care within a safe, supportive, and empathetic environment. Our work together will center on understanding your experiences more fully and finding ways to respond to them with greater clarity and intention.

We all have struggles. Despite our best efforts and intentions, those struggles can leave us feeling overwhelmed and we don't even understand how we got here. I want to help you explore and address your concerns, by encouraging a sense of curiosity and humor, when appropriate. Rather than approach our troubles with trepidation, why not approach them with interest – be curious about ourselves, how we came to be who/how we are, how the things we have tried have worked/not worked or even made things worse and what other options may exist that we have not yet thought of or tried? Learning to be curious about ourselves and the challenges we face, and to find humor and grace along the way, allows us to be less judgmental and feel less ashamed of ourselves and our struggles, so we can build a life we want on more solid ground. I’m a psychologist with 20 years of experience working with college-aged (traditional and non) individuals. I have a very collaborative approach – you are the expert on you. I incorporate a number of therapy approaches, using what I believe will best fit you and the difficulties discussed. I know how difficult it is to seek help and it's my job to make this easier by offering a warm, empathetic and safe place to explore and address your concerns. If you are ready to feel better about yourself and explore how you might meaningfully address the challenges in your life, I am excited to join you in this process!

Welcome to the Awareness and Wellness Center (AWC)! My name is Amy Mintgomery and I am a professional counselor in Pennsylvania providing in-person and online counseling. I have been providing therapy services for adults struggling with a range of issues including substance use disorders, problems with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, grief/loss, as well as anger/stress management problems and more. I have gained this experience working in a variety of therapeutic settings including long-term residential, inpatient and outpatient agencies. For 18 years I worked in the Student Life division of a local university. I worked primarily with student organizations in organizational development. I helped the young adult population of the university develop self-efficacy and to better manage stress. More recently I worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for substance use and co-occurring disorders. In therapy, I use a person-centered approached utilizing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused technique. My approach is to provide a soothing space and offer the environment you need to talk through life’s challenges. “Life on life’s terms” can be complicated and everyone needs a place to process difficulties. My hope is to be part of your “We” so that you have the professional support needed to begin to work through challenges and find solutions to better manage stress and the emotions connected to that stress.

Many of the students I work with are navigating a lot internally—stress, anxiety, self-doubt, or feeling unsure about their path. You might find yourself overthinking, putting pressure on yourself to have everything figured out, or struggling in relationships while trying to balance it all. You may look like you’re doing fine on the outside, but feel overwhelmed or stuck underneath. You don’t have to have everything figured out. If you’re open to growing, gaining clarity, and building a stronger relationship with yourself, we’d likely work well together.
