Hello there, Feeling stuck? Feeling stressed out about all the things that are competing for your attention? Wanting to change your relationship with yourself, so you can spread your wings and soar? I'm Stefan (he/him) and I want to be there on your journey. Starting therapy can feel scary, even if you've been in therapy before! To lower that intensity a bit, I want you to give you an idea of how I show up to sessions: - I get to know you - your family, friends, hobbies, shows, loves, fears, passions. - I celebrate and hype you up when you do the hard thing. - I ask questions to get you curious about patterns in your life, and point out when you might not be aware of them. - I offer compassion when your mind creates judgments about yourself. - I welcome and ask for feedback, knowing some things will land and others will not. - I laugh with you and value humor. - I tear up when you feel hurt or uncover a tender spot (while also holding space for you to feel). - I'll tell you I'm proud of you. - I nerd out about mental health, skills, approaches, and explain concepts in a way you'll understand. - I slow down and speed up based on your cues, and I give you choice in how we go about sessions. - I'm always working on our relationship, so there's trust and security when we get to difficult things. - I acknowledge the bigger systems of oppression that affect your life and lives of your loved ones. - I'm active and dynamic in sessions - sometimes asking questions, leading an activity, listening and reflecting, interrupting to highlight something you said, and synthesizing information and summarizing it back to you. All of this "I" is the effort I put into helping you get to "you": what you want, what you care about, your goals, dreams, your emotions, stressors, internal talk, and who you want to become and how you want to show up in life. Specialties: queer and trans identities and lived experiences, anxiety and depression, perfectionism, substance use, navigating family dynamics, healing trauma, couples and relationship work, career discernment Approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; trauma approach), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method (for relationship work), mindfulness and somatic interventions I'm an associate counselor, seeing clients through telehealth in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California. My typical availability is 8am-5pm EST, although I sometimes see clients earlier in the morning or early evening. I have in-person availability in Northampton, MA on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please reach out with any questions! I accept the following insurances: - United/Optum/UMR/UHC in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California - Harvard Pilgrim in Massachusetts Private pay rates are: Individual - $125-$175 Couples/Relationships/Family - $145-$195

As people, we are always in bloom. Over time, we become different versions of ourselves. The shifting landscape of how we relate to the world around us can be both thrilling and terrifying, and it can be hard to know how to process and adjust to life's transitions. I support clients in developing insight into their internal worlds, and exploring how core perspectives and beliefs shape interactions in the external world. Through this process, clients are able to identify aspects of past versions of themselves that are no longer serving them, and areas of strength that they can carry forward into future phases. I take an eclectic, person-centered approach to counseling in order to provide unique, personalized care. I prioritize creating a genuine connection with my clients based on trust, honesty, and respect. I balance creativity and practicality when problem-solving, and use psychoeducation to demystify and destigmatize mental health topics. My approach to counseling has been developed over three years of professional work in a variety of settings. I have worked with clients of all ages, with a wide variety of needs, abilities, and backgrounds. And, even with the skills I’ve acquired so far, I am also still in progress: I intend to continue learning, changing, and blooming along with you.

Inside all the suffering you are experiencing at this time, you know who you are at heart. I want to help you work with unhealthy thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and return to yourself, a self that honors your core values. I am a compassionate therapist who provides goal-oriented therapy to adults dealing with anxiety, social anxiety disorder, depression, panic attacks, contamination and disgust OCD, trauma, complex family dynamics, and those working on long-term recovery from alcohol use disorder. Therapy should be goal-oriented and energizing! I work with clients who are in Washington, DC, Massachusetts, and Virginia as I am licensed in all three locations and have lived and worked in all three. I look forward to supporting you on your journey! Please be aware that for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance I am only in network in Virginia.

I am Counseling psychologist, and I've worked in college mental health for the last five years, first as a therapist at Syracuse University's counseling center, then at Rhode Island School of Design's counseling center. I both provided therapy, and helped train others to provide therapy. I love working with students and helping them adjust to being at a university, figuring out how to cope with the demands of college, and find their way in the university system to make sure that they have access to not just tools for their mental health- but access to academic supports, financial assistance, and resources to help them work with their faculty members. I'm a generalist- I work with people across a wide range of issues and identities, and so I really try to tailor what I'm doing to fit what YOU need. I also have specialised training in LGBTQ+ mental health and treatment for Trauma. I believe that we are whole people, and our identities, culture, and access to resources are important to understand, respond to and support in therapy. I both work to help you understand your experience so you can respond in new and creative ways, and also know and use pragmatic strategy-based approaches that give you concrete ideas how to take the next step. If that sounds like a fit for you, reach out and I'm happy to speak more!

Searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, I'd like to be there for your second. I have a deep affinity for those affected by trauma, including sexual assault and combat, as well as extensive experience and desire to work with those with perinatal issues (such as post-partum depression), issues of gender and racial justice, childhood and teenage transitions, depression, and chronic illness. My therapeutic approach focuses on creating an empathic environment where you feel safe and relaxed, and where we can use every tool available to brighten your present and empower your future. This may involve playing a game or taking a walk as often as we spend time in the office.

Healing doesn’t have to feel so heavy all the time. Life can be tough, but your therapy journey doesn't have to be. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just trying to understand what on earth is going on, I’m here to help with compassion, curiosity, and (yes!) even a dash of humor. My goal is to help you feel heard, empowered, and equipped with the tools to create a life you truly enjoy. Along the way, we’ll celebrate the small wins, unpack the big stuff, and maybe even laugh a little. Growth is serious work, but it doesn’t have to feel that way the entire time.
