My goal is to guide you in understanding what interferes with living a fulfilling life. I believe change is possible, no matter the circumstance, and I will support you through your journey of growth and self-discovery. As a therapist with extensive background working with trauma survivors and individuals of all ages, couples and families in crisis, I respect and understand both the challenges and lifelong benefits of having therapeutic alliance. My experience with the healing process has solidified the importance of consistent, genuine care, creating a space to pursue what it is you desire and find to be meaningful. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Life Coach, my approach is primarily relational, focused on the cultural considerations of an individual. Although we cannot avoid suffering, learning to cope with it is possible. As we become curious and explore beliefs, experiences and relationships, we will discover meaning to move forward with renewed purpose. I use theoretical practices such as behavioral, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, psychodynamic, strengths-based with a trauma and attachment lens. Additionally, I am specialized in sexual trauma and utilize techniques to help alleviate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression, build skills to regulate emotions and transform unhealthy behaviors. I am a Psychodynamic Couple and Family Institute of New England trainee.

Hello! I'm Dr. Spooner (she/they), a radical clinical social worker and AASECT-certified sex therapist dedicated to helping individuals liberate themselves from shame and stigma surrounding their sexual preferences, identities, and orientations. My approach is grounded in intersectional and antiracist principles, recognizing that many challenges stem from systemic oppression and marginalization. I strive to create a supportive space where clients can explore and address issues related to their sexual identities, fostering a path toward a healthier and more fulfilled self. Considering treatment/support related to sexual health and satisfaction? My specialties are as follows: Sex Offender Treatment & Problematic Sexual Behaviors; MAP support; Gender Identity; Sexual Trauma; BDSM/Kink; Fetishes; Cross-Dressing; Monogamous and Non-Monogamous Relationships; Body Image; and Compulsive Sexual Behaviors/Pornography use. In regard to style, I'm a warm and engaging therapist who believes that humor and laughter (when appropriate) can be some of the best medicine. I'm honest and direct while also being encouraging and compassionate. Life is hard enough; you need a therapist who can provide you with a safe and judgment-free space to discuss whatever is on your heart and mind.
My practice focuses supporting people in clarifying their values and in living lives that realize their deepest values. I believe that there are many ways to be mentally healthy, and I pursue a pluralistic view of mental health, one which varies from person to person. I aim to be a patient and supportive companion for you to determine what is important to you and to make meaningful change. I have worked as a professor at a number of universities in the US and abroad, and I have also worked as a social worker for young adults with mental illness. My academic and psychiatric experience makes me an ideal fit for working with students (undergraduate or graduate) who are facing life transitions or mental health challenges. Therapy is an exciting journey and it is always a pleasure to meet new or potential clients. I look forward to hearing from you.

Accepting patients living in MA and NY. Are you feeling depressed or anxious? Are you having trouble adjusting to changes in your life? Are you wanting to improve your relationships with others? Do you have recurring thoughts or memories that cause distress or past experiences that still impact you today? If you've answered yes to any of these questions, let's set up an appointment to continue your journey towards wellness. As a Haitian-American, I connect with first generation immigrants who are navigating biculturalism in the U.S. I also help Christians integrate their faith and spirituality in psychotherapy. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and systemic framework as vehicles for psychological treatment. I am currently accepting new patients. Let's schedule a free 15-minute consultation and see if we're a good fit. We can then proceed to schedule an appointment. You've already taken the first step towards your wellness by looking for a provider. The time to make a change is now; your future self will thank you!

Accepting new clients! At the center of my work is the belief that healing happens through connection—therapy begins with a space that feels safe, compassionate, and authentically supportive. I work with adults and young adults who are navigating life changes, anxiety, depression, identity questions, relationship challenges, and the ongoing work of self-discovery. I am affirming of LGBTQ+ identities, supportive of neurodiverse experiences, and committed to practicing in ways that are inclusive, culturally attuned, and trauma-informed. My style is person-centered and strengths-focused, rooted in humanistic values. I support clients in making sense of their experiences, discovering meaning, and reconnecting with what matters most to them. In addition to my general practice, I also support caregivers, siblings, and parents of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering space for emotional processing and deeper understanding. I see therapy as a collaborative journey, an opportunity to explore meaning, reclaim personal narratives, and cultivate resilience. Each person brings their own wisdom, and I’m honored to walk alongside you as you move toward greater clarity. Please reach out with any questions you may have about the therapeutic process or working with me!
Starting treatment with a new mental health provider can be daunting: it involves opening up with the hope that you'll learn and grow from the experience. I have tremendous respect and admiration for my patients, as they work through challenging emotions, histories, and conflicts. At times, certain thought patterns, self-perceptions, traumatic experiences, or communication struggles can keep people from thriving and building the kind of career, relationship, or personal well-being they crave. It takes courage to work on these issues, and it is a real privilege to get to help people on their journey. I am a Harvard-trained, board-certified psychiatrist providing psychotherapy and medication management to adults in Massachusetts through telehealth. Growing up in an immigrant family and having worked in multiple clinics internationally, I highly value providing culturally competent care. It is very important to me that my patients feel seen and heard. I use a collaborative, holistic approach to care, in which I work alongside clients to define and set goals. I am transparent about the extent of what is and isn't well-known in psychiatry with the goal of helping people make informed decisions that they feel comfortable implementing. If this approach sounds like a good fit for you, please reach out!
