Hello, I am an attorney, adjunct professor and licensed social worker. I started my practice with the aim of helping law students, as many of them struggle with the rigor and pressure of law school, particularly in the first year. Having a law degree makes me uniquely qualified to understand these challenges as has my experience as a law professor. My practice is not limited to law students however; many undergraduate and graduate students experience periodic depression and/or anxiety or have difficulty balancing social, employment and academic pressures. If you reside in NY and need evening or weekend sessions, feel free to contact me for a consultation. Jacqueline Rosenblum

Many people seem to have lost their way; they have followed paths they believe they "should" take and find themselves asking why they are not as happy as they expected to be. At the heart of therapy is empathy, i.e. the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. My empathy for clients enables them to identify their feelings and needs, and accept and value them. This allows them to empathize with others and form meaningful relationships. While therapy requires work and commitment and can thus be challenging, it is well worth the investment of time and energy.

PCWC practices with the belief that satisfaction in life comes from the process of gaining self-awareness. This involves understanding oneself, what one wants and needs, and identifying strategies to accomplish those goals. She knows from her experience working with numerous clients that this approach is very successful.

My clients often say that deciding to become involved in therapy is one of their most difficult life choices. I understand. I’m a trained and experienced psychotherapist, and my view is that they are the experts in their own lives, and, it is my honor and privilege to be asked to be part of their journey of self-exploration. My purpose is to support them by offering alternate viewpoints and also to encourage them to delve into patterns that often lead to feelings of negativity and/or being “stuck.” Due to my background, I’m able to encourage my clients in identifying their personal challenges in a safe and supportive environment. My professional experience is in working with individuals who are dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and grief. I rely on talk therapy that includes cognitive behavior therapy, trauma informed therapy and mindfulness practice to help clients learn healthy ways to cope with challenges and develop self-awareness.

When people ask me what therapy is, I like to explain it is like running to a “Taima” - the Venezuelan word for the "home base" in the game of tag: that safe zone where no one can tag you out, where you catch your breath and recoup. It’s also where you could go to find perspective - to collect and steady yourself before jumping back in the game. My practice, Taima Psychotherapy, is a space you can go to when you need to slow down, explore how you feel, find support, recover, and strategize. I specialize in the treatment of issues related to chronic stress and trauma, and have a special interest on issues related to immigration. I also have experience working with mood and anxiety disorders; and supporting clients through life transitions, grief, relationship difficulties and identity development. I approach treatment in an integrative way, taking into account a client’s specific needs, background and culture. With my clients, I co-plan science-backed strategies to work towards measurable improvements in wellbeing. You may visit my website www.taimapsych.com for more information. Schedule a consultation if Taima feels like the right home base for you.

There are numerous transitions in life. Teenagers moving from high school to college, young adults leaving college to enter the work force and all of the transitions in an adult life: relationships, job changes, growing a family and more. As individuals navigate through life transitions, they can find themselves feeling stuck or overwhelmed waiting to settle into the new. These transitions range in time and can take weeks or months to navigate. This time brings new challenges and barriers to overcome and asks us to respond in new ways. We will work together to recognize that each transition is truly a new beginning. I believe in providing a caring and supportive healing environment for my clients so that we may develop a trusting working relationship. During the course of treatment we will work collaboratively to help clarify issues, set goals, gain insight and understanding, and create more effective and satisfying methods of moving forward in your life.

I love meeting people, exploring how they define their goals, and then working together to achieve it. The beauty in being human is that we can have similar stories or feelings and yet still be so unique in our behavior and perception. I look forward to getting to know you so we can make long lasting positive changes. I have an eclectic client-centered approach where I utilize evidence-based treatments to help my clients experience relief, peace, and success. As we put the pieces of the puzzle together, it only encourages growth and insight. We all come to this point with a set of different experiences and genetic wiring. As we explore those experiences that influence who you are, we create an individualized treatment plan that empowers you to succeed. I offer a free phone consultation so that we can determine if we are a good fit to work together or refer you so as to find the best path for your goals.
